Didier Barret, President Europe Middle East and Africa of Mylan, started his academic career at the University of Grenoble where he completed his doctorate in pharmacy in 1987. He then went on to complete his MBA at the Lyon Business School in 1989. Mr Barret began his career working as a branded pharmaceuticals marketing and sales representative in London and then in France. He quickly moved on to his next position at Merck KGaA as the head of the companys newly formed generics division in France. As the success of Mercks generics division continued under Mr Barrets watch, he was offered the opportunity to grow with it and was promoted to Area Director for Southern Europe in 2000 and to Regional Director for Europe in 2004. Further to the acquisition of Merck generics division by Mylan in October 2007, Mr Barret was appointed EMEA President of the newly formed group.
