Dr Viraj Rajadhyaksha,

Pfizer India

Dr Viraj Rajadhyaksha works for Pfizer in India as Senior Manager, Operations, Planning and Management responsible for smooth conduct of Phase II/III and IV global, regional and local clinical trials. He is a physician by training and completed his MD from the University of Mumbai and worked as co-investigator in industry sponsored studies on Acute coronary syndrome and hyperlipidemia. During his residency was awarded the Gufic award for the best original research at the annual conference of the Indian Pharmacological Society, 2000. He joined Pfizer in 2002 and has worked in all three main functions of a medical department: Medical Affairs, Clinical Research and Regulatory. His areas of direct experience include thrombosis, oncology, infectious disease and ophthalmology. In 2008, he worked on a secondment in Pfizer Korea. His main areas of experience included organizational development of the clinical research function, enhancing capacity in clinical research by training internal colleagues and external investigators and sites and working on Phase I studies in oncology. In addition to overseeing and development of clinical trials, his areas of interest also include environmental initiatives in spreading of clinical research and pharmaceutical medicine in India and capacity building of investigators and ethics committees. He is a member of Training Council of Indian Society for Clinical Research, section co-editor of Journal of Indian Society for Clinical Research, South Asian chapter of American college of Clinical Pharmacology and the Drug Information Association. He is a regular faculty for clinical research training courses at major institutes and some universities in India and also reviewer at the Indian Journal of Ophthalmology.
