Chester “Chip” Davis, Jr. currently serves as Executive Vice President for Advocacy at PhRMA. In this role Davis is responsible for leading and managing PhRMA’s federal, state and international government relations and advocacy efforts. A veteran of the biopharmaceutical research industry, Davis served as Senior Operating Office of PhRMA from April – November 2010 during the association’s most recent leadership transition.

Prior to joining PhRMA, Davis served as Vice President of Corporate External Relations for AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals LP and was responsible for overseeing the company’s interaction with federal and state governments and health and community stakeholders as well as strategic alliances, community relations and employee volunteering efforts. He also served as a member of the AstraZeneca Corporate Affairs Leadership team and was Vice-Chairman of the AstraZeneca Political Action Committee.

Beginning in 2004, he served as AstraZeneca’s official liaison to PhRMA. While in that capacity, he played a key role during AstraZeneca CEO’s chairmanship at PhRMA and spearheaded the company’s efforts related to the biopharmaceutical industry’s health care reform platform. In 2007, Davis was one of the inaugural winners of the AstraZeneca CEO Award, given to global executives who best demonstrate AstraZeneca leadership capabilities in their accomplishments. Davis joined AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals LP in 2001 in its Public Policy Department, and was initially responsible for enhancing and managing the federal and state government functions.

Davis holds an undergraduate degree in Accounting from the University of Delaware and a Juris Doctor Degree from the University of Baltimore School of Law. He is admitted to the Bar in Maryland, Virginia, the District of Columbia and the US Federal District Court of Maryland. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Ronald McDonald House of Delaware, the New England Healthcare Institute and is a member of the Autism Society of Delaware.

Davis and his wife Tina have three children: Ryan, Caroline and Hope.
